Liverpool have five options to beef up their defense this summer, including some familiar faces, while Tottenham have confirmed their plans for one of their more experienced players – all in the latest transfer gossip.
SOYUNCU ON LIVERPOOL LIST
Liverpool have a shortlist of five men to sign a new defender this summer, including current loan officer Ozan Kabak.
It is according to the Daily Mirror, which reveal that defensive reinforcements are still very much in the minds of Anfield transfer leaders.
Liverpool were forced into action in January after injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. They decided to sign Kabak on loan from Schalke and Ben Davies from Preston.
Davies has yet to play due to his own injury issues, but Kabak has played fairly consistently. Now Liverpool will have to think about using their option to buy him.
But he’s not the only name on their radar. Interest in RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate has recently emerged, although the player and his current club have played it down.
the Shimmering mention it as one of the four options besides Kabak, however.
One of the preferred options on the shortlist is Ben White from Brighton, due to his local status. Liverpool are known to have followed the 23-year-old on loan with Leeds last season and he is still being watched.
Another long-term goal for Liverpool is Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car. He was an option in January, but no movement ultimately materialized.
But Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu is a new goal to consider. Kabak’s international teammate with Turkey has impressed since essentially replacing Harry Maguire at King Power Stadium.
Now Liverpool are reportedly keen on a move for the 24-year-old, who has been in the Premier League since 2018.
