A woman found guilty of shooting and killing her partner, believing it to be an intruder, was sentenced to nine months of house arrest.
Amy Christine Smith was sentenced today by the Auckland High Court for the manslaughter of Danny Bruce Taylor two years ago in April 2019, on a rural property in northwest Auckland.
She believed that a cannabis crop on the property could be the target of theft and had taken methamphetamine that night.
In the wee hours of the morning, she shot Taylor with a .22 rifle in the dark.
At the Auckland High Court this morning, Judge Peters also ordered Smith to do 400 hours of community service.
